Disc brakes are commonly used in applications where resistance to corrosion is paramount. The open nature of disc brakes makes washing after exposure to corrosive environments a simple task. Disc brakes also allow quicker cooling during brake applications and therefore the disc brake system is less prone to brake fade. For this reason, disc brakes are becoming common place on caravans and trailers used in harsh offroad environments.
